HFM, formerly known as HotForex, is a multi-asset broker offering forex and CFD trading through several legal entities. Its strongest features are a broad account selection, MT4 and MT5 support, and frequent promotions. The main limitation is that trading conditions and legal protections can differ substantially by country and entity.

Regulation and account entity

HFM operates through multiple companies. The brand’s international website identifies entities including HF Markets (SV) Ltd, HF Markets (Seychelles) Ltd, HF Markets SA (PTY) Ltd, and HF Markets (UK) Ltd. The UK company is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 801701.

This does not mean every HFM client receives UK protection. The company named in your account agreement determines the regulator, dispute process, leverage rules, promotion eligibility, and available protections. Verify the exact legal entity before depositing.

HFM account types

Premium account

A general-purpose account using spread-based pricing. It may suit traders who prefer a simpler cost structure without a separate forex commission.

Zero account

Designed around raw or tighter spreads on selected instruments with commission-based pricing. Compare the total spread and commission for the symbols and trading sizes you actually use.

Cent account

Uses smaller contract sizing and may help traders test live execution with lower nominal exposure. A small account does not remove leverage risk.

Pro account

HFM markets this account with lower spreads and no separate commission on supported instruments. Eligibility, minimum funding, leverage, and swap-free conditions can vary.

Platforms and tools

HFM supports MT4 and MT5 on desktop and mobile, WebTrader, and its own HFM platform. This is useful for traders who already use MetaTrader indicators, Expert Advisors, or multi-device access.

Execution quality cannot be judged from platform names alone. Test the symbols you trade during both normal and volatile conditions, paying attention to spread expansion, slippage, rejected orders, and stop-out behaviour.

Spreads, commissions, and swaps

HFM advertises spreads from zero on selected Zero-account instruments, but the minimum advertised spread is not the same as the typical all-in cost. Actual costs depend on account, symbol, market conditions, commission, and financing.

Before opening an account, compare:

  • Typical spread during your normal trading session.
  • Round-turn commission per lot.
  • Swap charges and triple-swap day.
  • Currency-conversion, inactivity, deposit, and withdrawal costs.

Deposits and withdrawals

HFM states that it does not charge its own fee on withdrawal requests, while banks or payment processors may charge transfer fees. Funding methods and processing rules vary by region. Withdrawals may need to return to the original funding source under anti-money-laundering procedures.

Complete verification early and test a small withdrawal before increasing your balance. Never send additional money to an individual or pay an unexplained fee simply to unlock your existing funds.

HFM promotions

Promotions are one of HFM’s distinguishing features, but they are not universally available. Each offer may have its own eligible entity, country, account type, volume requirement, and withdrawal conditions.

One current example is HFM Return on Free Margin. Its displayed percentage is converted into a daily amount using an annual rate divided by 365, so the realistic cash value is much smaller than the headline percentage might suggest.

Advantages

  • MT4, MT5, WebTrader, and mobile access.
  • Several account structures for different pricing preferences.
  • Broad range of CFD markets, depending on entity.
  • Promotion and educational sections on the official website.

Limitations

  • Regulation and protection differ by legal entity.
  • High leverage may be available through some entities and increases loss risk.
  • Promotions can add complex eligibility and volume conditions.
  • Advertised minimum spreads do not show the complete trading cost.

HFM review conclusion

HFM may be worth comparing for traders who want MetaTrader, multiple account options, and promotion access. The decision should be based on the exact legal entity, total trading costs, execution during your trading hours, and withdrawal experience—not on a bonus alone.
